new rule: push the goalie into the net, then jam in the puck afterwards

Replying to LM, I would take Clarkson over Mac too, but at 2 million more when we have other glaring issues, I dont know.

This. Clarkson is the better player, but his contract makes it a hard choice between the two.

Agreed. Clarkson was a nice addition but was not a necessity.

Cost of UFA, we needed more of a winger that can hit and retrieve the puck on the forecheck than a winger that really never contributed that element.

This team shows they can play, we have seen glimpses but unfortunately it is for a period and never a whole game. They can do it but won't sustain it for whatever reasons.

Get a UFA that will take a shot on net in the 3rd or in OT

Being a UFA was always going to raise the $, and I love Clarkson's game, don't get me wrong, but the defense/centres had too many ?'s to ignore to use the $ on wingers instead.

I personally think this is happening because of Carlyles system. They are constantly chasing because he doesn't have them attack the perimeter. That is probably burning the players out as the game goes on.

They are never controlling the play. The offense is pretty much entirely counter-attack, yet they can never seem to create a rush out of their zone because they have no player to make a first pass to.

Look at Bobby Ryans quote about Carlyle and how he never wants his players to attack the outside.

We have very skilled, fast forwards. We're never going to be able to cycle the puck like STL or BOS.

Play to your players strengths, not to your own preference.

Not sure about that, but I am starting to think Randy is not the right coach for this team. or He is the perfect coach for this team and we will see the light....

Must win games this weekend. Hopefully the Leafs show up pissed off about the Refs, themselves, the coach, whatever. Just play with more energy and anger.

Exactly, but I don't think his defensive system compliments the offensive style players we have at all.

The big circles around the net really piss me off when they are getting back into their own zone.

one of three things need to happen

1: Nonis needs to change the personnel to suit Randy's systems

2: Randy needs to change his systems to suit the personnel

3: Nonis needs to fire Randy and find a coach who will apply a system that suits the personnel
